About Nile Rodgers

Even if you’ve never heard Nile Rodgers’ name, you’ve almost certainly heard his work. Nile was born in 1952 and co-founded Chic, one of the leading disco-rock bands of the 1970s. With the NYC native on lead guitar, the band churned out hits like “Everybody Dance”, “Le Freak” and “Good Times”, the latter of which was named the 68th greatest song ever by Rolling Stone (and is sampled left and right on the hip-hop scene).

When the disco wave crashed, Nile shifted behind the scenes, spearheading some of the biggest songs and records of the last 40 years. Among other things, he produced multiple award-winning Madonna and Beyoncé albums, wrote the Coming to America soundtrack and played guitar on Daft Punk’s international smash “Get Lucky”. Now in his 70s, Niles hasn’t slowed down one bit, continuing to write, produce, record and play live year-round.

The Guitar Strings Nile Rodgers Uses

As a musical chameleon, Nile Rodgers effortlessly shifts between disco, R&B, classic rock, country and other genres. For decades, he has trusted D’Addario guitar strings and accessories to keep up. Nile uses D’Addario EXL115 Jazz Rock Guitar Strings 11-49 when he needs a balanced old-school sound — and he gets them by the 10-pack. When it’s to let a bright modern tone shine, he switches to D’Addario XL Super Light Guitar Strings for shorter sessions or D’Addario NYXL Super Light Guitar Strings when he needs superior corrosion resistance and tuning stability on tour. Other products Nile Rodgers relies on include the D’Addario Premium Woven Black Guitar Strap and D’Addario Guitar Pro-Winder string tool.
