About Paul Stanley

There are rock stars and then there’s Paul Stanley. As the rhythm guitarist and frontman for KISS, Paul brought rock fans 50 years of iconic riffs and showmanship as “The Starchild”, appearing on nearly a dozen platinum albums. Beyond the band, he took a hard turn in 2015 when he created Paul Stanley’s Soul Station to recreate the magic of oldies soul, showing he’s an artist with many talents.

It’s been quite the life for the man born as Stanley Bert Eisen in New York City. What he’s accomplished is even more impressive when you consider Paul had a birth defect that left him with no hearing in his right ear. He loved music anyway, though, and after being given a guitar when he was seven, he started on a path leading to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

What Guitar Strings Does Paul Stanley Use?

Like many top artists, Paul Stanley is an Ernie Ball loyalist. This includes Ernie Ball Earthwood 80/20 Bronze Medium Strings on his acoustic guitar, giving him the natural tone needed for his Soul Station project and the occasional KISS ballad. The 80/20 wrap wire and hex core offer strong projection while the 13-56 gauges offer an excellent feel for strumming and a warmth to counter the strings’ brightness.

In interviews, Paul has also stated he uses Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Electric Guitar Strings, which let him play big chords and enjoy “the glory of the arm swing.” Regular Slinkies offer more balance than Super Slinkies, making them more rhythm-friendly and lending themselves well to effects.
