About Sleep Token
Whatever you want to classify them as — they’ve been called alternative metal, post-metal and even indie rock — Sleep Token is here to haunt your dreams. The group originally formed in London but has since charted on just about every continent, bringing new devotees flocking with every new release. Their most recent album, “Take Me Back to Eden”, had six songs reach the top 40 on the Billboard U.S. Rock chart, a level of success that has led to them signing with the famed RCA Records for future rounds of scripture.
Beyond the music, Sleep Token is largely a mystery. They wear masks at every show, and the real names of its members have never been made public. Have they achieved success despite their anonymity, or is it part of the appeal? Whatever the reason, millions have flocked to Sleep Token for their metal sermons.
What Strings Does Sleep Token Use?
One thing that is known about Sleep Token is which guitar strings they rely on. The band is an official D’Addario artist, using their NYXL 8-string guitar strings for a low, ominous crunch that isn’t going to interrupt a ritual as important as music. Depending on the song, you’ll hear either D'Addario NYXL1074 8-String Light Top/Heavy Bottom 10-74 or D'Addario NYXL0980 8-String Super Light 9-80 strings. As for the low end, pick up a set of D’Addario Pro Steels EPS170 Long Scale Light 45-100 strings for a four-string bass or D’Addario EPS170-5SL 45-130 strings for a five-string bass to give each song a thundering foundation.
