Vile Death Metal Guitar Strings

About Vile
They may not get the mainstream publicity of other death metal and black metal bands, but those on this scene know Vile is a force to reckon with. The band was founded in 1996 just outside San Francisco, and this influence shows in the mix of old-school Florida death metal, California-style grooves and a dash of progressive rock. The result is music you can simultaneously mosh and jam to, and it has given them a loyal following in the U.S. and Europe.
Vile is the brainchild of Colin E. Davis, the band’s lead guitarist, producer and only original member. He works with a rotating group of members from other accomplished death metal bands like Six Feet Under and Dimmu Borgir. Although the band went on an extended break as Davis worked with The 01 Experience — spreading his musical wings with a mix of metal, prog-rock and spirituality — the group has returned for major events such as the Obscene Extreme Festival and Chicago Domination Fest.
The Guitar Strings of Vile
To play with the dark, demon-like sound Vile is known for, Colin Davis uses Ernie Ball Power Slinky 11-48 Nickel Electric Guitar Strings. These heavy-gauge strings allow extreme down-tuning while maintaining the tension and strength needed to handle complex riffs — and the nickel-plated wrap wire adds just enough brightness for those groovy rhythms. With Ernie Ball’s legendary premium materials and quality control, Colin can count on the strings to be stable and consistent throughout a festival run. The strings are made in the U.S. with sealed foil packaging to keep them fresh.
